Shadow Dancing (NaPo24 #18)
Cast your torch against the walls of my mind And let the Stones sing of our colorful past, These futures b r i g h t. Illuminate my Shadows, Show their shape to me, Watch the cats dance through The flicker of orange tongues. See me so that through your eyes I can sense the world around you, Of you, In you. An endless dream that the wakeful mourn That only we live Drifting through tendrils of smoke And rustling leaves. Take from me these earthly titles And give me my true name. If you can not speak it, Scribe it into my skin With India ink. If it can not be written, Sing it to the chimes Of the stars living between us. If it not be music, Then let us live it as love In the myriad small gestures And deep breaths That flow as our Single body melts and reforms, Again and again.
Beautiful from a distance, I would have you Stay far Let no one close enough to see the way your eyes lift When you smile You straddle erosion and decay balance on the edge of a landslide But no one comes to throw nets over your latest tumble Or snare your slip-stray rocks And so you reform again, A new pinnacle, That much closer to the sea
Basing Fictional Characters on Real People by BornWithTheSun, journal
Basing Fictional Characters on Real People
After a brief intermission of-- uh… two years-- I'm back with another journal entry! Nah, really. I'm just writing this because I have a topic and something to say. I don't normally talk about writing fiction with people that I meet in person because I've found that I generally get two reactions: a) "Okay" and then a change of subject. I suspect some people don't want to talk about a writing hobby because they're afraid I'll ask them to read my work. (I wouldn't, but I understand the concern.) I strongly prefer this reaction, because the other response is usually b) “You write fiction? You should base a character on me and include them in your novel!” Like… no thanks. And then my conversation buddy gets all dejected and we have to have a discussion about why I find this process intrusive and therefore uncomfortable. Because it leads to me facing two questions with no good answers: a) How do I go about crafting flaws for this character? Depending on how I answer this

Feature: Designing characters and creatures + more
It is time to feature more tutorials and undiscovered art! :la: As usual, the feature will be divided. The first part includes tutorials on how to design characters and creatures, and the second part is a selection of artwork I’ve discovered recently with fewer than 50 favourites. Previous features are linked at the bottom of the journal, and I post a new feature each month on my profile, usually around the 15th :dummy: We'll start off with some guides on how to design human/humanoid characters. First, @Dinloss has an excellent walk-through of how to design the character themselves - their body, their hair, pose, and much more. However, the clothes and accessories of a character are also essential to their looks - which is covered more in-depth by @HANIICU and @Deamond-89, with one discussing functionality and style and the other cloth detailing, including how to draw those: Animal characters are a different beast, however =P Luckily, we have experts on the topic -

Total Eclipse: A Big Odyssey
Many of you may saw my update on my Telegram Channel about me witnessing the total eclipse from past April 8, 2024. From Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México. In few words, such an experience! I went through so many things before and after it, but it was completely worthy in the end. I had anticipated all these plans with so long in advance, so many things were already paid and very well planned, but it is true that, despite everything is considered planned, definitely not everything always goes according to plan, and in this journal you will understand that almost nothing went according to plan. Blink-182 Eep! What this punk rock band is related with the total eclipse? Because attending their concert was also in my schedule for this trip, and it was something I had planned way in advance. Originally, I was going to see them in March 29th, 2023, at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, I had purchased my tickets to see them in 2022, two years ago, and indeed their tickets were by sale almost
